Colombia
Tokens 68 pieces of Colombia and Columbia, Part one of this lot includes 21 different tokens, none obviously of high interest but a few which are atypical or previously not observed within Dana's collection. The quality is typical for well-circulated types and attribution is tentative. Second and larger portion of lot is Dana's 47-piece collection of circa-1830 era "anonymous farthing" type with a male bust reminiscent of Simon Bolivar and with COLUMBIA (not COLOMBIA, the actual spelling for the South American country) typically above. Interestingly no legend is present on four of the examples. Backside motif is reminiscent of British seated Liberty design. Similar to Fonrobert 8039 -8043 styles with many different dies included but considerable duplication is possible; quality is typical. Sold as is, NO Return. From The Dana Roberts Collection and Study Group
