Tokens 47 from Fincas and Enterprises, Copper or brass issues total 36 pieces, likely all different, while 3 others are apparently made of CuNi, plus six in aluminum and 2 zinc completing the group. As was the case with the related 84 piece lot from this same collection, sold for $1292 as #26602 in our April 2013 CICF sale, most seem to be of late 19th century origin including several clearly from the 1870's-1880s. Nineteen of this group have a numeric expression of their unit value but do not specify "REAL" as the unit although that does not preclude such. Those examples have values of ½ (2 pcs), 1 (4 pcs), 2 (2), 4 (1), 5 (2), 10 (only 1; it is an interesting CuNi with Colon as the denomination and issued by the Bennor, Hillje and Wilkens International Restaurant), 12.5 (1), 25 (4) and 50 (2 pieces, one of which is a 40mm type in lustrous EF+). Twelve of the pieces have unusual unit names for their denomination. A brass "Pasaje" is from the Tramvia circa 1893. A brass "Jornal" is dated 1886 from Ahuachapan. CuNi "Saco" is of Finca Santa Rosa. Aluminum "Caja" is from Camantulul. Two of three "Cajon" pieces have very different coffee plant renditions while a 30mm octagonal brass dated 1885 of C. Gutierres is especially appealing. Brass "Conesta" of Miguel Hasbum is followed by four different interesting brass "Tarea". Of the sixteen pieces which show neither a specific value or unit to indicate their denomination to us, a dozen are brass, two aluminum, and one each zinc and CuNi. While most attributions are likely, they cannot be guaranteed. Quality is typical for such issues, most of which heavily circulated. Sold as is, NO ReturnFrom The Dana Roberts Collection and Study Group

Estimate: 300-600 USD
