Puerto Rico
Quintet of Scarce Brass Tokens, Five diverse pieces, each round, struck in brass and measuring 20 to 27mm, are interesting and scarce. Ponce's Collazo, Perez and Guerra 20mm "3" Almudes is a footnoted item under Rulau Pnc-11 and in Higgie as #212-a. Higgie- 230 has a J.A. for Juan Amil of Yauco; this unusual style token 2 Reales is appealing. Much circulated Antonio Sard of Mayaguez expresses Pto Rico. A clearly-related (likely same mint and same era) unlisted-in- Higgie (and also Rulau) piece of same 27mm size and style is for Las Maria's Jose Guiscafre; its quality is better, easily Fine plus. Final piece in the lot is boldly dated 1881 with Vale 10 Centavos as issued in Ponce for Sauri -Subira; this very scarce item is attractive VF+.From The Dana Roberts Collection and Study Group
