Asia Minor - Caria - Kos - AE20 (c. 88-50 BC, 6.61 g) - Laureate head of Asklepios right / Serpent coiled right (cf. SNG Cop. 684 / cf. BMC 194) - a.VF. Healing had a long tradition on Kos. The famous Hippocrates, of the 'Hippocratic oath', was a well-known inhabitant of this small island. Kos also housed the famous sanctuary of Asclepius, the Asklepeion, where people were treated in medical baths.
