The Parthian Kingdom - Artabanos II (10-40 AD) - AR tetradrachm (13.74 g.). Seleukeia on the Tigris mint. Bare-headed bust facing with medium square cut beard, wearing diadem with loops on the sides / King on horseback left, Tyche standing to right presenting palm and holding staff, legend : BAΣIΛEΩΣ - AΡΣAKOΥ – ΔΙΚΑΙΟΥ – ΕΠΙΦΑΝΟΥ. T above king's arm, ΛΗ vertically behind king, month monogram 103 between horse legs (Seleucid era date equivalent to April, 27 AD). This rare tetradrachm of Artabanos show a fierce warrior-king, they probably present a closer picture of what a Parthian really looked like than any other portrait coin.
