From the property of a Gentleman - VOC, Dutch India - Pulicat (Paliacate) - AE X kas (15.56 g.), ND (after 1646). Obv.: VOC-monogram surmounted by X / rev.: Arabic legend: benam sultan abd (allah) "In the name of Sultan Abd (Allah)", refering to Sultan 'Abd Allah Qutb Shah (AD1626-1672) from whom the Dutch received the privilege of a Mint at Pulicat. The 10 kas was struck for Ceylon, were it circulated for a stiver. By placard of 1674 they were forbidden there to circulate. R3 aXF. Ref.: Scho. 1217; Passon 41.5
