From the property of a Gentleman - VOC, Dutch India - Dutch-Ceylon (Sri Lanka) - Tin 2 stivers (29.20 g.), Galle, 1783, cast and modelled after the copper 2 stivers. Obv.: VOC-monogram, between ∙:∙ - ∙:∙ and surmounted by G (Galle) – 2 ۰ S(tiver) / rev.: 1783 and Sinhalese: stribi 2 (= 2 stivers). The weight is slightly heavier as the similar copper specimen and compare favourable to the double weight of the tin doit of 1782 (Scho. 1310). Presumably a short lived exprimental issue, similar as what happened at Jaffna (ref.: Scho.1333). Rare aVF. Ref.: Scho. - ; Passon - ; HAE Auction 52-2888.
