Bermuda 1.8.1920 P-3a PMG Choice UNC 64 5/- Shillings
One of the nicest examples of this type that we have seen. Fully original, it is a shame that a few minor specks in the paper prevent this note from receiving the "EPQ" designation from the grading service. If there was one note that deserves EPQ it is this one, and we would not be surprised if this note is resubmitted one day and is upgraded in the process. PMG has even mentioned "good embossing" on the back of the holder, which is unusual and typically not done unless a note truly deserves it.
This is the first variety for the type, with date and signature title as "Receiver General", which was fairly short-lived and is scarce in all grades. Despite being dated 1920 it was not issued until 1935 and was replaced the following year by an updated variety with no date and new signature title. It is tied with just one other example as the finest in the PMG population report (with just seven graded in all grades combined) and is far superior to the other 64, making this without question the finest example of this Pick number. PMG mentions "Good embossing".
