Chad ND (1971) P-1 PMG Very Fine 30 10,000 Francs
A modern rarity for Chad and one of the most difficult post-colonial African notes to acquire in any grade. This was a short-lived issue (and the only banknote issued by the Banque Centrale, the Central Bank of Chad) that had tremendous buying power at the time of issue and had a small print run of just 5 blocks, with a maximum issue of 500,000 notes (although we believe it unlikely that all were actually issued). The type was printed in the French style on thin French banknote paper, which did not help survivability. Most were redeemed when the new series was introduced, and this type seldom appears at public auction in any grade. An important opportunity for the French Colonial specialist and not one we expect to repeat anytime soon.
