Switzerland, Bank in St. Gallen ND (ca. 1852) P-S437r PMG Gem UNC 65 EPQ 20 Franken (Remainder)
The Bank in St. Gallen once again had banknotes printed in the United States for its 1852 series. Printed by the firm of Toppan, Carpenter, Casilear & Co., New York & Philadelphia, these were printed in 4-subject sheets, and cut from the sheets by the bank upon issue. We offer high grade examples of three of the four denominations in this sale. This is the initial denomination, and it is a fantastic gem with fully original paper and excellent eye-appeal. The 1852 series importantly converted units to Franks from the 1837 series of Gulden.  Switzerland has maintained Franks to this day.
