NOTE: This is the first gold coin tobear the name of Madinat al-Salam (Baghdad), placed in the obverse field rather than in the margin as would later become standard for Abbasid dinars. Dhu'l-Riyasatayn, 'Holder of the Two Ministries,' was the title of al-Ma'mun's Persian minister al-Fadl b. Sahl.
