NOTE: This solidus, struck during Indiction XII, was one of the last gold coins issued in Muslim Spain before the introduction of the bilingual Arabic/Latin type in 98h. It was issued by Musa b. Nusayr, the governor of Ifriqiya, who campaigned in Spain from 93-95h and began minting Arab-Latin solidi there. Production of these coins ceased when Musa was recalled to Damascus, arriving there late in 95h. Musa then appointed his son 'Abd al- 'Aziz to govern Spain, although he seems to have struck no coins there before he was assassinated in 97h. His successor was a relative named Ayyub b. Habib, whose tenure lasted only a few months.
Estimate: £4000 - 6000
