AURELIAN (270-275). Hybrid Antoninianus struck with a reverse die of Decius(?). Antioch.
Obv: IMP AVRELIANVS AVG.
Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right.
Rev: VICTORIA AVG.
Victory landing on globe, holding wreath and palm branch.
An hitherto unknown coin or test pattern of Aurelian, possibly related to his campaign against the Palmyrene Empire in 272 AD. Interesting enough the reverse shows a significant resemblance to the "Victory on globe type" that Decius issued in his late Antoniniani in the mint of Antioch.
Condition: Very fine.
Weight: 3,66 g.
Diameter: 21 mm.
