CARIA, Aphrodisias. Gordian III. AD 238-244. Æ Triassarion (40mm, 31.17 g, 7h). Radiate and cuirassed bust right, wearing aegis on shoulder / Gordian galloping right, right hand raised, two captives below. MacDonald, Coinage, Type 182 (O231/R421); RPC VII.1 619.3 (this coin); SNG von Aulock 2465. Red-brown patina, roughness, scratches. VF. Struck on an oversized flan. Very rare, only three known to RPC.
