Very Fine; 'chopped' on obverse.

From the Anders Collection, collector's ticket included.

In regards to the chop-marking of Neapolitan bronzes at Minturnae, Stannard writes that "[a]ll coins are marked on the obverse, never the reverse. The cuts were not intended to divide the coin, and are not particularly deep. A cold chisel rather than a knife was probably used, as the 'V' of the cutting edge is quite wide. There is no sign of flattening on the reverse, so the coins were probably set on a soft surface for chopping." For more see C. Stannard, ''Chopped' Neapolitan Bronze Coins at Minturnae, Overstrikes with Roman Types, and the Coin Stock in Southern Latium and Northern Campania about 200 bc', in NC 178, pp. 99-106.
