Netherlands, Ducat 1608 - Friesland, Leeuwarden

Ducats from this mint are sought after and rarely found in trade, especially in this condition. The presented specimen is the first year Friesland ducats of a new type were minted, with a vertical line in the number 8, typical for all copies (this is not an over– date). In addition to the new type ducats, in 1608 old type ducats were also minted in Friesland, with the earlier image of a knight with, among other things, a knight's legs bent instead of straight.

Fully legible legends, mintmark and details of the knight. A large, shapely planchet with mint gloss. The digit 8 in the date made of two small circles.

Moneta z nieznacznymi śladami montażu u góry. Dobra w prezencji.

Prezentowany egzemplarz jest pierwszym rocznikiem bicia fryzyjskich dukatów nowego typu, z charakterystyczną dla wszystkich egzemplarzy pionową kreską w cyfrze 8 (nie jest to przebitka daty). Obok dukatów nowego typu w 1608 r. wybito we Fryzji również dukaty starego typu, z wcześniejszym wyobrażeniem rycerza, posiadającego m.in. ugięte nogi zamiast prostych.
