Netherlands, Ducat 1609 - Holland, Dordrecht

An example of a rarer minting period in the Netherlands. In the knight's hand clearly visible 7 arrows symbolizing the seven provinces of the Netherlands, which is not often found on ducats from this period. The presented specimen is a representative of the short period of the mint's production under the mintmaster Gideon de Jonge. His ducat issues from 1609–1612 are very rare. After this period, Dordrecht stopped minting ducats for almost a decade. 17th–century gold ducats minted before 1637 are rarely found in collections.

A well–struck and preserved ducat, with a legible legends on both sides. Remnants of gloss. A rarer date, like most Netherlands ducats from the second and third decades of the 17th century.
