Netherlands, Ducat 1648 - Gelderland, Harderwijk
Issue from the year of the end of the Eighty Years' War in the Netherlands (1568– 1648), which ended on October 24, 1648 with the signing of a peace treaty. This confirmed the existence of the Republic of the United Provinces of the Netherlands as a territory independent of Spain. Thus, the status that the Republic had actually had for many decades was formally recognized.
Steven Arndts' first year of work as a die sinker, and an immediate change in picture. On the reverse, 12 dots are evenly spaced around a square with an inscription. In the years 1648–1650 in Gelderland, typologically different ducats were minted. In 1648 three types were minted: with a knight holding 7 or 3 arrows and with an emperor (wearing a crown). The presented specimen is minted with the image of the emperor. Mint condition, lots of mint luster. Slight imperfections, but with clear, sharp details.
Egzemplarz doceniony drugą najwyższą notą NGC.
Pierwszy rok pracy rytownika Stevena Arndtsa i od razu widoczna zmiana wizerunku. Na rewersie 12 kropek rozmieszczonych równomiernie wokół kwadratu z inskrypcją. W latach 1648-1650 w Geldrii bito dukaty zróżnicowane typologicznie.
