Netherlands, Ducat 1758 - Holland, Dordrecht

The third year of the Dordrecht mint with Wouter Buck as a mintmaster. Following the archives, already on the day of taking office, May 31, 1756, he ordered gold ducats to be minted and struck a total of 28,700 pcs. in 4 days. In the following year, the mint was moved to a different location for three years. Throughout almost the entire period of provincial coinage, 1586–1795, the mint of the province of Holland was located in the same building, which still stands at Munt 5 in Dordrecht. Only in the years 1757–1759, for the time of renovation works at the official mint, were coins minted in a temporary mint, in a building known as Stokholm, located at Wolwevershaven in Dordrecht. The presented example is a testimony to this very short issue. In both legends, the letters D are punched with the letters I with a belly added (or I stamped with an O).

W dokumentach odnotowano, iż już w dniu objęcia urzędu, 31 maja 1756 nakazał on emisję złotych dukatów i w 4 dni wybił łącznie 28700 monet. W kolejnym roku mennicę przeniesiono na 3 lata w inne miejsce. Przez niemal cały okres mennictwa prowincjonalnego 1586-1795 mennica prowincji Holandia była zlokalizowana w tym samym budynku, który do dziś stoi przy ul. Munt 5 w Dordrechcie. Jedynie w latach 1757–1759 na czas prac renowacyjnych w oficjalnej mennicy, bicie monet odbywało się w tymczasowej mennicy, w budynku znanym pod nazwą Stokholm, zlokalizowanym przy Wolwevershaven w Dordrechcie. Prezentowany egzemplarz jest świadectwem tej bardzo krótkiej emisji, a do tego nienotowaną przebitką daty.

W obu legendach litery D wybite puncami literowymi I z dorobionym brzuszkiem (lub I nabite na O).
