It was the thriving heart of the trading empire of Zimbabwe from 12th to the 15th century, although the construction of the monument already began a century prior. At its peak, the ruined city supported a population of 10,000 to 20,000 people. It was designated as a World Heritage Site by Unesco in 1986. Very rare, especially with this signature.
