Paris: Imprimerie Nationale, 1902–1904. Three volumes, complete. 4to, text volumes in matching contemporary red half morocco, signed by Fazakerley; spines with five raised bands ruled, lettered and decorated in gilt; top page edges gilt; plate album in original printed boards. (4), clxxviii, (2), 630 + (4), 267, (1) + (4), 6, (2) pages; 42 very fine plates. Text volume are ex-library copies, but the only markings are a gilt number on the spines, bookplates and occasional blind-stamps; bindings are rubbed and worn, but sound. Plate volume is not ex-library; spotted covers, else near fine. An original set of Fernand Mazerolle's rarely offered masterwork on French medals and medallists. Clain-Stefanelli 14302. Grierson 261: "Recueil de documents et d'illustrations essentiel." Modesti 1954: "Con metodologia affatto nuova per l'epoca, nel primo volume sono raccolti i documenti, nel secondo l'illustrazione tecnico-storica delle singole medaglie (oltre 1.000) e nel terzo sono raccolte le tavole. Per documentazione, intuizione artistica e ampiezza del materiale è un' opera fondamentale nella storia numismatica, ma non solo, della Francia."
