Pinto, Isaac de. AN ESSAY ON CIRCULATION AND CREDIT, IN FOUR PARTS; AND A LETTER ON THE JEALOUSY OF COMMERCE. FROM THE FRENCH OF MONSIEUR DE PINTO. TRANSLATED, WITH ANNOTATIONS, BY THE REV. S. BAGGS, M.A. London: J. Ridley, in St. James's Street, 1774. 4to, plain contemporary boards. (2), xix, (3), 240 pages [lacking final four leaves, being the closing of the "letter," with the primary work being complete]. Disbound, with spine perished. Good. The first translation into English of this important and controversial work on national economies and the use of debt and credit within them. Argues that the proper use of debt can be a significant factor in economic growth. Very scarce, and generally a four-figure book: the lack of the final four leaves in this copy, which are not part of the main title, and its overall condition, holds it back.
