Little-known in numismatic circles, Raguenet's biography of Henri de La Tour d'Auvergne, Vicomte de Turenne (1611–1675) went through several editions in its day and is listed by Dekesel in his numismatic bibliography. Marshal General of France, Turenne was a brilliant military commander whose exploits were commemorated in some of the medals produced for Louis XIV. The classic Médailles sur les principaux événements du règne de Louis le Grand is mentioned in the Avertissement of the book. Dekesel R12 (noting that the colophon is dated 1768, though the titles are both dated 1769).
