Two volumes, complete. 8vo, contemporary matching tan half calf with russet sides; spines with five raised bands, ruled and decorated in gilt; black morocco spine labels, gilt; all page edges red. xxviii, (3)–159, (1); xii, 342, (2) pages; 3625 descriptions; text illustrations; 36 + 1 engraved plates, all but one depicting coins. Both volumes ex Manchester Public Library with labels and stamps; front cover of second volume detached and affixed with tape; blindstamps to plates; still very good or so. An elusive and impressive catalogue, with excellent plates engraved by Masson. The second volume, focusing on the Roman Alexandrine issues, is particularly scarce-this is the first copy we've handled since the Kreindler Library sale in 2014. Daehn 6582. Kroh 52.
