Siboni, Roger [organizer]. ROGER SIBONI'S BEACH COIN SYMPOSIUM II: SATURDAY, AUGUST 27, 2005. Edited by Roger A. Moore. 4to, original pictorial card covers. 157 single-sided pages; illustrated in color. Near fine. One of 30 copies produced. The "Siboni Beach Symposia," began in 2004 as a casual get-together of colonial collectors organized by Roger Siboni and held at his beach house on the Jersey Shore. As the years progressed and the number of people invited grew, a somewhat more formal structure developed, with it being agreed that those in attendance would present a brief talk discussing their current collecting interests, a recent acquisition, or any research in which they happened to be engaged. Coins and other objects brought to the gathering are photographed, and written summaries of the talks are submitted to a volunteer editor. Out of this, a book is created, and these are made available at cost only to those in attendance (in a choice of bindings). These volumes often include cutting-edge research as well as more casual, but always interesting, reflections on a given colonial theme. The gatherings have become well-known for fostering camaraderie among collectors and for promoting the colonial specialty. Ex Syd Martin Library.
