TOME VII: LES BIJOUX ET LES PIERRES GRAVÉES. DEUXIÈME PARTIE: LES PIERRES GRAVÉES. Paris: Ernest Leroux, 1911. Folio [36 by 27 cm], later blue cloth, gilt. Title page in red and black; 439–874 pages; 15 fine phototype plates numbered 16–30. Fine. The sole volume of the extensive De Clercq collection publications to be devoted to engraved gems. Louis De Clarcq (1836–1901) was a French photographer and explorer who formed a massive collection of artifacts of the Syrian-Phoenician, Mesopotamian and Cypriote areas. He published his collection in seven volumes (some, like this, in multiple parts) with Joachim Menant, with André de Ridder compiling the volumes published after De Clercq's death. The seven volumes cover: 1) Cylindres Orientaux; 2) Cachets, Briques, Bronzes, Bas-reliefs; 3) Les Bronzes; 4) Les Marbres, les Vases Peints et les Ivoires; 5) Les Antiquites Chypriotes; 6) Les Terres Cuites et les Verres; and 7) Les Bijoux et les Pierres Gravees. The collection was presented to the French state in 1967 by his great-nephew Count Henri de Boisgelin, which parts of it being integrated into the collections of the Louvre and other museums and others being sold. A rare title. Sinkankas 5461: "Not seen."
