Ceylon 3.6.1952 P-52 PMG Choice Very Fine 35 50 Rupees
First date of issue for this type (only two dates were issued) and one of the earliest dates one can find on a Queen Elizabeth II portrait note. To give an indication how much scarcer the 1952 date is compared to the 1954 date one only needs to look at the print records: for every 10 notes printed with the 1954 date just a single example with the 1952 date was issued. Add to that the fact that many of the known examples have been badly doctored and this example truly stands out as having strong eye-appeal for the issue, with just three examples grading finer in the PMG population report (and we would not be surprised if all three of those have the 1954 date). A lovely type note and one of the scarcer types with this portrait of the Monarch.
