Persia ND (1890-1923) P-4s PMG Choice UNC 64 10 Tomans (Specimen)

Tied for finest in the PMG population report along with a quartet of others, this is a pleasing specimen for the 10 Tomans from the Imperial Bank of Persia. While this example lacks a date (added by the bank at the time of issue) or signatures, it does have a "Payable at Teheran" designation on the back. The back also has the serial number range for this print run, which was 10,000 notes. Michael E. Bonine has identified eight different placements of serial numbers on the first series of the Imperial Bank of Persia. This example is his type VI, 4 serial numbers, two in opposite corners, two in center, which he dates to circa 1910-1924. This high-grade specimen has fantastic eye-appeal, strong color and is entirely problem-free. With issued notes of this denomination few and far between, this would make for an excellent representative in high grade for a 10 Tomans.
