Richard II (1377-99), gold Quarter-Noble, London Mint, series Ib, quartered shield, within a double linear tressure of eight arcs, trefoils on points, Latin abbreviated legend and beaded border surrounding, initial mark cross pattée with saltire crosses in punctuation, RICARD'x DIxx GRAxx REX'x AnGL'x, rev. lis at centre of ornate cross with lis terminals, lions over trefoils in angles, double linear tressure of eight arcs surrounding, Latin legend and beaded borders surrounding, EXALTABITVRxx Inxx GLORIA, 1.88g (Schneider 140; N.1318; S.1673). Toned good very fine, with a slightly undulating flan, a particularly attractive obverse, surface marks mainly on reverse, graded by NGC as UNC Details (Bent), rare.
