Charles I (1625-49), silver Pontefract siege Shilling, 1648, struck on lozenge shaped flan, Royal Crown above C.R at centre, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, DVM: SPIRO: SPERO, rev. Pontefract Castle gateway, date below, OBS vertically upward to left, hand holding sword to right, flag on central tower above, P to left, C to right, toothed border surrounding, 6.52g (Brooker 1230; N.2646; S.3148). Toned, weak in borders, long hairline scratch and nick within date on reverse, otherwise very fine, graded by NGC as VF35.
