George IV (1820-30), silver Crown, 1822, SECUNDO type, laureate head left, B.P. for Benedetto Pistrucci below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, GEORGIUS IIII D: G: BRITANNIAR: REX F:D:, rev. St George and dragon right, date in exergue, B.P. to upper right of exergue, WWP on ground line below lance for William Wellesley Pole, edge inscribed in raised letters and dated, DECUS ET TUTAMEN. ANNO REGNI SECUNDO., 28.29g (Bull 2318; ESC 251; Davies 134; S.3805). Once lightly cleaned and artificially toned, otherwise with a few nicks, extremely fine, the much rarer edge year for this date and type.

The total Calendar year mintage of 1822 Crowns for both possible edge years is 124,929 which is less than half those of 1821.

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "George the Fourth by the Grace of God, King of the Britons, Defender of the Faith." and additionally on the edge "An ornament and a safeguard, in the second year of the reign."
