LYDIA, Sardes. Circa 166-67 BC. AR Tetradrachm (27mm, 12.06 g, 1h). Cistophoric type. Struck circa 135-128 BC. Cista mystica with serpent; all within ivy wreath / Bow-case with serpents; CAP to left; Tyche, holding wreath or phiale and cornucopia, standing right; monogram below. Kleiner & Noe Series 15, 18-a; SNG Copenhagen –. EF, toned. Overall well struck except for the heads of the serpents on the reverse. Scarce mint for the cistophoric series.
