Kuang-hsü brass Pattern 2 Cash CD 1906 MS64 NGC, Tientsin mint, cf. KM8 (in brass), CL-HB.18, Duan-2470. A mysteriously rare Pattern minor produced in brass, and particularly elusive in this high grade. The current near-Gem offering was likely struck early on, as the raised motifs are appreciably distinct in expression and the minutiae of bordering clouds to the dragon can be readily distinguished. Turning to the reverse, the legends are fully formed and entirely legible. The delightfully satiny open expanses are blessed with wholesome mint luster and even blushes of hearty amber toning can be noted in the peripheries. Overall, an absolutely lovely example, presently awarded with the highest grade in NGC census, and destined to an elite cabinet of Chinese Trial pieces.
