Hunan. Kuang-hsü Pattern Specimen Mule 10 Cash ND (1902) SP58 Brown NGC, cf. KM-Pn5 (for reverse), cf. KM97 (for obverse); cf. CL-HUN.97-98 (same), cf. CL-FK.18-19 (same). In all likelihood, an exceedingly rare Specimen mule pairing the reverse of a Hunan Pattern 10 Cash and the obverse of the Fukien Custom House dragon side. Very light friction can be noted across the highest points, otherwise virtually uncirculated and presenting a pleasing degree of struck detail. The lower-lying fields are chestnut brown, allowing the glossy, chocolate brown motifs to raise in distinct visual contrast. A highly covetable piece for a dedicated collector of Chinese Pattern coinage.
