Sinkiang. Hsüan-t'ung Sar (Tael) ND (1910) AU53 PCGS, KM-Y7.3, L&M-812. Variety with Chahtai characters and central rosette on reverse, and no border around dragon. A wholly pleasing survivor of this attractive variety that allows the dragon to roam unrestricted in the open expanse. The surfaces are evenly toned in dove gray and carry prominent concentric lines, with a notable paucity on any singularly significant instances of impact and few developing die cracks on the reverse. Although the raised motifs admit balanced and mild wear, the overall impression is harmonious. A representative of this type in this high of a grade has not crossed the auction block in many years, and we expect vigorous competition as such.
