Republic Sun Yat-sen "Lower Five-Pointed Stars" Dollar ND (1912) AU55 NGC, Nanking mint, KM-Y319, L&M-42, WS-0085. Variety with lower five-pointed stars on reverse. A well-kept survivor of this type struck to commemorate the founding of the Republic of China, eternizing the portrait of the "Father of China" and first provisional president of the newly formed republic, Sun Yat-sen. Decorated in a subtle lavender tone with golden recesses, this coveted type usually undergoes vigorous bidding when encountered in straight-grades, the present offering abounding in sharpness and eye-appeal.
