Republic Yuan Shih-kai "Plumed Hat" Dollar ND (1914) AU53 NGC, Tientsin mint, KM-Y322, L&M-858, Kann-642. A gently circulated and lightly toned example of this special type featuring General Yuan Shih-kai in military outfit and his famous "Plumed Hat." A couple of abrasions in the field to the right of the obverse portrait are the only noteworthy distractions but the pleasant dusky layer of graphite patina serves to positively obscure these and other evidence of circulation. This type has become essential in Chinese collection cabinets and bidding for an example like this must elevate to match popular demand.
