Republic Hsu Shih-chang "Pavilion" Medallic Dollar Year 10 (1921) AU55 NGC, Tientsin mint, L&M-957, Kann-676a, WS-0103. Plain edge, without lower legend on reverse variety. A highly scarce variety of an already difficult series whose star has dramatically risen in recent years and always excites when encountered in any preservation. A captivating, near-Mint State example that, while gently handled, endures wholly appreciable, elevated by a full embossment of the "pavilion" of the Peking Union Medical College to the reverse. Mottled slate tones abound, peppering the expanses and slightly obscuring what residual flash may remain, yet adding visual intrigue and eye appeal.
