Sweden, Ostergotlands Enskilda Bank 1894 P-S738b PMG Very Fine 25 50 Kronor
Star Punch hole cancelled. With a pedigree going back to a 1990 sale in Switzerland, this is a seldom seen higher denomination for this private bank in Linköping. Between 1830 and 1891 there were 31 private banks authorized to issues banknotes in Sweden. These notes circulated alongside notes of the Sveriges Riksbank (the Swedish Central Bank) until 1902. This type, printed by Bradbury, Wilkinson & Co. in Great Britain is dated 1894 and was part of the 8th and final series of banknotes from this institution that had been founded as the Öst-Göta Bank. A difficult denomination seen here in nicely circulated condition, with star cancellations. PMG mentions "annotations".
