CELTIC GAUL. Caletes (Sequani-Aedui-Lingones intersect region). Late (after 38 B.C.) First century B.C. AR quinarius. 1.87 gm. 13 mm. (Influenced by Roman Republican denarius of T. Carisius, ca 45 B.C.). Winged bust left; ATEVLA in front (inscription complete on this piece) / Bull right, scroll above, pentacle below; VLATOS in front. BMC Celtic II: 566. Good Very Fine; part weakly struck but main details of portrait and all legends fully struck--rarely seen on these issues; old toning on good silver. Old large round collection tag.
