THESSALY, Koinon of Thessaly. Claudius. AD 41-54. Æ Assarion (17mm, 5.95 g, 12h). Antigonos, strategos. ΣEBAΣTHΩN (Ω inverted, sic) ΘEΣΣAΛ[ΩN], bare head left / ANTIΓO[NOY ΣTPA]THΓO–Y, Asclepius standing facing, head right, with right hand on hip, leaning on serpent-entwined staff; monogram to left. Burrer Em. 1, Series 4, 93 corr. (A23/R79 – inverted letter not noted); RPC I 1437; BCD Thessaly II 927.2 (same dies). Fine, green patina. Scarce.
