ex RJ Ford collection, Singapore Coin Auction 19, 23 February 1995, lot 247
Pridmore says these have the appearance of a local workshop and the coin was intended to replace the silver fanam token issued in 1814 (Pr 23). The original metal was supposed to be lead according to Pridmore, but maybe acknowledging the deterioration of the Bombay Presidency 1740-1771 tin coinages (again, a matter of semantics, white metal=tin=lead?) they tried a copper piece as well, but in the end nothing came of it except this unique reminder of a new coinage.

Estimate: £800-1000
