Diler, ömer, Ilkhans: Coinage of the Persian Mongols, Istanbul, 2006, 655 pages, 12 plates, in English, softcover, slightly worn at the corner, perfect shape internally, the most important general research source for the Ilkhan coinage, divided into two basic sections. First, a list of all known mints for the Ilkhans, with reported dates for each mint, accompanied by one or two references for each date. Second, a list of all separate types known to the author, each one with a well-executed drawing and a list of recorded mints for each type and the dates for each mint, organized by ruler, with a simple type numbering system, from 1 to 838. There are useful indices and bibliography at the end. Sadly, ömer Diler passed away shortly before the final editing of this work was completed. His widow Emine Nur Diler, assisted by two excellent numismatists, Garo Kürkman & J.C. Hinrichs, completed the preparation and submitted the manuscript to the printer. The death of ömer Diler has been a devastating loss to the numismatic community of Turkey and the world.
