Large Cents
1814 1C Crosslet 4, S-294, B-1, R.1, MS63 Brown NGC. The final-year Classic cent exists in two die marriages, readily attributed by the presence or absence of a crosslet on the crossbar of the 4 in the date. Both varieties are fairly plentiful in well circulated grades, but quality Mint State examples of any Classic variety are challenging to locate. This Select cent displays consistent lavender-brown toning. The well-struck surfaces are uncommonly devoid of contact. Lightly granular near the NT in CENT and the lower left leaf cluster. The obverse border shows flowlining, as made from dies long in use.
