1835 50C O-110, R.3, MS66 NGC. O-110 is a moderately scarce variety in circulated grades, attributed by repunching on star 7 and the 5 in the date. In Mint State, however, the O-110 is surprisingly rare. Heritage has previously offered only a few Uncirculated examples, with the finest among them graded MS63. The present lot is three grades finer, and is in fact regarded as the single finest example of the variety. It is ranked first in Stephen J. Herrman's Autumn 2023 Revision. We should note that at least one proof also exists, graded PR64 by NGC. The present Premium Gem business strike displays blushes of apple-green and golden-brown toning across the reverse border and a majority of the obverse. Minor incompleteness of strike is evident on a few stars and the B in PLURIBUS. The lustrous surfaces are remarkably free from contact. A wonder coin that would command attention at any showing.
