Morgan Dollars
1894-O $1 MS64+ PCGS. The New Orleans Mint struck a fairly modest mintage of 1.7 million Morgan dollars in 1894, but the issue is even more elusive in high grade than the meager production total suggests. Many survivors are heavily bag marked, with weak strikes. Some are unattractively toned, although this example is brilliant and brightly lustrous. As usually seen, the strike is soft over the ear and at the eagle's breast. Both sides show only minor signs of contact and overall eye appeal far exceeds that of most 1894-O silver dollars. PCGS has graded only 18 numerically finer examples (2/24).
