Buffalo Nickels
1913 5C Type One, 3-1/2 Legs, FS-901, MS63 PCGS. A sunset-orange glow encompasses both sides of this Select Uncirculated first-year nickel -- the highly sought Type One Philadelphia issue -- the 3-1/2 Legged Buffalo variety. This rare Cherrypickers' variety is seldom seen and extremely popular in any Mint State. The front leg anomaly is a result of over-zealous die polishing (likely to remove clash marks), first discovered in 1988. This sharp example displays a crisp reverse strike and bold strike doubling on the Indian's profile. Population: 4 in 63, 6 finer (1/24). From The Matthew D. Webber Collection.
