(t) HONG KONG (SAR). The Chartered Bank of India, Australia & China. 50 Dollars, ND (1912). P-43Acts. Colour Trial Specimen. PMG About Uncirculated 55 Net. Repaired, Minor Rust.
Without serial numbers. Blue and black on yellow, bank arms upper centre, vignette of people by river at centre within a gourd shaped vignette, printed signature of Dickson at lower right, reverse brown and blue, the old Bank building at centre, overprinted 'SPECIMEN NO VALUE' and with a circular blue Waterlow and Sons seal.

A sensation colour trial of the 'Gourd' 50 Dollars where the normal orange hues are substituted by soft blue inks. The Gourd 50 Dollars is rare in any form, be it an issued note, true colour specimen or colour trial. Indeed, it appears that the colour trial is the rarest as it is the only one graded by PMG and the only one that the cataloguer is aware of. A phenomenally rare note, if not unique. PMG Comments "Repaired, Minor Rust".

Estimate: $45000 - $70000
