William I 'the Conqueror' (1066-1087), 'Sword Type', Penny, 1077-1080, London, Eadwig, + PILLELM REX, crowned and draped bust facing, sword over shoulder, rev. + EDPI ON LVNDEI, cross potent over voided quadrilateral fleury, 1.27g [19.6grns], 3h (Allen [BNJ 2012], p. 77; BMC VI [Coll. 416]; North 846; Spink 1255), irregular and slightly clipped flan, otherwise sharply struck portrait, with a richer cabinet tone, a pleasing and bolder very fine, rare.
