THE ROYAL ORDER OF THE SWORD
Grand Cross Badge of the Order. Sash Badge, 81x54 mm., GOLD, as an oblique, white enameled cross of Maltese type with ball-finials, flanked by finely embossed crowns with enameled details, one sword with golden hilt and blue enameled blade to each side and, on top and below, two crossed swords, also with golden hilt and blue enameled blade, all "tied" to the cross itself by a golden ribbon, made of Gold-strip, blue enameled obverse centre medallion with a sword pointing upwards, within Sweden's "three crowns", reverse centre medallion also blue enameled, bearing a laureated sword pointing upwards and the motto "PRO PATRIA" running above, elaborate loop, composed of embossed rocailles, to which a crown of Royal type is hinged, enriched of enameled "jewels", strong, round ring through the crown's orb and typical ring to mount the cross to its original sash ribbon.
A beautiful, rare badge from the late 19th–early 20th Century, in the typical, accurate, Swedish quality, excellent condition. I
